Hi. I’m tafel. (What? Of course that’s my real name. Yes, it is also a delicious Namibian beer. Sheer coincidence.) I live in a very cold city with a very active kid and a very insane amount of pets. I blog about all of those things on a regular basis. Occasionally I may even post something interesting, but don’t hold your breath.

My son Sport was born in Ethiopia in 2003, and I adopted him in 2007. My life changed instantly, and although I have the occasional pang of envy for the old me who could travel on a moment’s notice and eat popcorn for dinner, I wouldn’t change a thing. In fact, I have started a second adoption process, and we are now officially waiting to be matched with Little Brother.

And in case you are trying to figure out the deeper meaning behind the blog title… stop trying. It means absolutely nothing. I had tried about five thousand more appropriate phrases and they were all in use, so this is a blog title born of desperation, nothing else. (Since starting this blog, I have been asked if it is a porn star name. No, but that’s pretty funny.)

One more thing – you might notice that I don’t use anyone’s real name on this blog. That is intentional. Even if you know me in real life, please keep up the pseudonyms anyway if you are commenting. And of course you will comment, because you want me to keep posting, right? RIGHT? Thanks!
